Abstract :
In this paper, we investigate the antecedents and consequences of a recent popular concept “emotional intelligence”, involving the emotional recognition and emotional regulation, in software development teams. By studying 196 software development project team members, we found, on the basis of using Partial Least Squares (PLS) method, that: a) project leader’s strength, collaboration and team autonomy positively influence emotional recognition, and b-) team collaboration, team autonomy and team member experience positively effect emotional regulation. In addition, we investigated the consequences of emotional intelligence on project outcomes as team learning. The results demonstrate that emotional regulation is positively and directly related to team learning.
