KARADENİZ EKONOMİK İŞBİRLİĞİ BÖLGESİNDE TİCARET AKIMLARININ BELİRLEYİCİLERİ: ÇEKİM MODELİ YAKLAŞIMI
Abstract :
This paper applies gravity model to explain determinants of trade flows in Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) region. For this purpose, panel data analysis is used for the 1997-2007 period. The empirical results indicate that, gross domestic product (GDP) and population of exporter and importer countries affect trade flows positively, but GDP and population of exporter countries have more effect on trade flows. On the other hand, while distance between capital cities of member states affects trade flows negatively, having common border and using same language of countries affects trade flows positively.
