Abstract :
The main purpose of this study is to designate the relation between the career barriers of female administrators and Glass-Ceiling Syndrome. The study is set of two main sections. In the first section, especially in Turkey and in the world, the position of women in the working life and career barriers of women and the concept of glass-ceiling are examined. In the second section, public survey results which includes totally 80 people of which 40 men and 40 women working in state and private bank offices in Erzurum are assessed. At the end of the executed survey related with the public opinion, the subjects seen as the main causes of women administrators not succeeding on their careers as having multiple roles, personal perceptions and selection, organization culture, organization politics, lack of mentors, not participating the informal communication Networks and discrimination in the working life are evaluated in details. These variables are accepted as the dimensions of glass-ceiling concept and the gender, age, marital status, education, status and the span of working life experience of people participating the survey are evaluated. At the end of the survey, the Glass-Ceiling Syndrome concept is found effective/active in the women working in bank sector as not succeeding on their careers.
