Abstract :

Developments experienced in information and communication technologies today ensure that work in many businesses is done in computerized environments. Developments in information technologies have significantly affected country economies and consequently companies. At most, business environment has affected from these developments. Accounting profession is one of the professions benefitting from developments in information technologies at the most. Professional staffs of accounting carry out their professional activities in computerized environments today. Software programs have great importance in the effective use of computers for the accounting profession. Accounting profession (accountancy) is one of the businesses adapting to this digital transformation at the fastest. Taking right decisions in this digital transformation is very important in terms of both productivity and customer satisfaction. The problem of selection of software in general terms and selection of accounting package program in particular are a multifactorial complex problem. This study aims at making a survey on the accounting package programs used by the professional accountants who carry out their professional activities in Konya firstly; identifying the factors affecting the selection of accounting package program of professional accountants, and additionally, determining the problems that professional accountants face in the pursuit of the developments in information technologies and in using the accounting package programs, and providing solution offers according to the findings.
