AN INVESTIGATON ABOUT JOB SATISFACTION OF TEACHERS

The main purpose of the research is to find out job satisfaction levels of teachers and to investigate the differences on the job satisfaction levels of teachers in relation to their sexes, ages, working years, school types, education levels, subject fields and willingness of choosing their profession. In this research Minnesota Job Satisfaction Questionnaire, 20 items likert type scale, was used. The data collected from the 397 teachers, who work in 36 high schools in province of Zeytinburnu in İstanbul. Some of the results are as follows; (a) The job satisfaction of the teachers are just above the moderate level, (b) Female teachers have higher intrinsic and extrinsic job satisfaction levels than male teachers; (c) Young teachers have higher extrinsic job satisfaction levels than older age teachers.
