TEACHER OPINIONS TOWARDS SCHOOL BASED MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
Abstract :
This study aims to describe the opinions of teachers on the school-based management (SBM) system. The sampling for the study has been chosen randomly with disproportional group sampling method among the study universe. A total of 200 teachers consisting of 77 men (38.5%) and 123 (61.5%) women took part in the study. Of the participants 76 (38.5%) persons were of 30 and younger age group, 79 (39.5%) persons of 31-40 age group, 35 (17.5%) persons of 41-50 age group, and 10 persons (5.0%) of 51 and older age group. The “School-based Management” scale of 77 items developed by Aytaç (2000b) was used as a means of data collection in the study. According to the findings obtained as a result of the statistical analyses it is concluded that the teachers’ in-group participation in SBM systems are high and their opinion about the School-based Management (SBM) system differs depending upon the financing type of the school they are serving at as a wage earner and the number of awards they get. On the other side it is also concluded that there is no differentiation in or between the groups according to the teachers’ gender, seniority, the number of schools they previously served, and the student age group they provide guidance and counseling.
