    THE EVALUATION OF HEALTH EDUCATION PROGRAM ON THE ADULT EDUCATION OF WOMEN IN RURAL AREAS

  • Abstract
    The aim of this research is define the effect of a “Public Health” program developed for the women in rural areas on women’s health risk perceptions and behaviours of health. The study group is composed of female literate trainees of Public Education Centre in Köprüören Village of Kütahya who are above the age of 15. The data were collected through a questionnaire, the interviews and focus group studies. An education program was designed for trainees on public health as a result of the analysis of the data after focus group interviews had been conducted on the participants. The public health pre-test questions developed by the researcher were asked to the trainees one week prior to the education program. After completing the 20-day training program, during which one training program was conducted a day, the tests were conducted on the participants again as post-test ten days later. The behaviours of the participants before and after the training were analyzed with pre-test post-test research model. Data analysis was done as reliability analysis, frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, paired samples t test. Consequently, it was found that the 20-day education program was successful [t(22)=13,52, p .01]. This education program dealt with the undeniable importance of health in every aspect of life especially from the woman’s perspective. The participants will affect not only their own health but also family culture and their future positively.
