Title Of Article :
Turkish adaptation of achievement emotions questionnaire-elementary school
Abstract :
This present study aimed to adapt the Achievement Emotions Questionnaire-Elementary School (AEQ-ES) developed by Lichtenfeld et al. (2012) to Turkish. The instrument is adapted to determine students’ perceptions of achievement emotions. Data gathered from 362 fourth grade students were used for EFA and CFA to determine the structure of factor loading. The number of the factors in original instrument remained and the factor loading among sub-scales were same. The Cronbach’s alpha coefficient for the overall instrument was found as 0.76. For the sub-scales, Cronbach’s alpha coefficient was calculated as 0.89, 0.89 and 0.72. Pearson correlation coefficient was calculated as r= 0.796 respectively. The questionnaire consists of 28 items on a five-point Likert type of scale. The instrument is valid and reliable and appropriate to use in Turkish culture. Results of the study revealed that the AEQ-ES is a valid and reliable instrument that can be used to reliably measure students’ achievement emotions.
