Abstract :
Experiencing infection diseases in present prove that infection diseases can be prevented and controlled with the golden age of antibiotics and other antimicrobial agents is a most optimistic view point. Relationships between microbes/germs and their hosts are influenced by environment in which this relationship consists, change the harmony of the relationship and the relations are constantly evolving. This dynamic interaction both affects the nature of the threat of infectious diseases and contributes to the development of the danger. Emerging and re-emerging diseases are newly identified diseases caused by a previously known or unknown microorganism, that have markedly increased in incidence or their characteristics such as identified reservoirs and host or have rapidly changed or found in new geographic areas. In this article, newly emerging or re-emerging infections especially seen as major epidemics in 21 century although previously known changes in the properties are discussed. This fist part of the article was composed infections caused by microorganisms found to be resistant to antimicrobial agents. The infections caused by Multidrug-resistant organisms (MDRO) namely Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus-MRSA, Vancomycin-resistant enterococci-VRE, penicillin-resistant Streptococcus pneumoniae-PRSP, Serratia Marcescens and their properties of these infections and the roles of nurses in the prevention and control were discussed.
