THE EFFECT OF EXERCISE ON BLOOD PARAMETERS AND VITAL SIGNS IN BEDRIDDEN PATIENTS
Abstract :
Objective: This research was planned as experimental to determine the effect of exercise on the blood parameters and vital signs in bedridden patients. Methods: The study sample was selected as the restrictions 25 bedridden patients who hospitalized in Neurochirurgia Intensive Care Unit of Ege University Medical School Hospital. For data to collect, “Patient Information Form” and “Patients Observation Form” were used. Levels depend of patients were determined with “Patient Classification Criteria”. Data of the research were collected consecutive five day of the week for per patient. Blood of the patients were taken in period pre exercise. Subsequently, the passive exercise was made to patients five day of week and two times in the day. For every day, blood letting was reiterated in post the exercise. Besides, in period pre and post of every exercise blood pressure, heart rate, breathing and oxygen saturation of patients were recorded. For per patient, the exercises were made ten times. Data was analyzed with SPSS 11.00 for Windows program. Results: Means heart rate, oxygen saturation, MCV and glucose of patients were decreased after exercise. Means of K and Mg were observed rising in post exercise. There was significant difference between lymphocyte (%), basophile (%), mononucleosis, MCV, MCH, MCHC, PDW, MPV, Glucose, K, Cl, before and after exercise(p 0.05). Conclusion: According to the results, we recommend ROM exercises for long time in bedridden patients.
