Abstract :
Objective: This study was planned as semiexperimental for the patients, operated with day surgery, in order to rearrenge nursing care, to improve the quality of nursing care, to deliver a better and continuous nursing care for all patients as well as investigate the satisfaction of child parents. Methods: The study was carried out in Department of Children Surgery in a University Hospital between October 2002- August 2003. Convenience sampling technique was utilized for sampling in the study. In the study Guide for informing Relatives of Patients was developed and coloring book for children, developed by American Society of Anesthesists, adapted to clinical environment and translated into turkish. The order of commintments, to be follewed up by policlinic, service as well as postoperative nurses, were determined in the clinic. The form, developed for monitoring day surgery patients, got used. Data; The questionnaire was used before and later the changes were happened in the clinic while having the relatives of patients realized procedures of discharge. Analize of the data were achieved by using “SPSS for windows 11.0”. Number, percentage, square-chi (x2) werw used in evaluating related data. Results: Fourty five child parents (90%) in the study group and 35 of patients (70%) of controls have had satisfaction of the service they had about day surgery. It is found out that there is a considerable difference when study group and group controls are compared. It is noticed that 49 child parents (98%) of study group and 44 child parents (88%) of control group were satisfied with nursing services. When a comparison between study and control groups is achieved, it is realized that there is statistically significant difference. Investigating the rates of filling the boxes of day surgery nursing care form, total nursing care form complated percent 76%. Conclusion: As a result, in the children surgery clinic, according to the changes in the nursing care, it’s observed that the patients’ families are getting more and more glad about the day surgery and nursing services.
