THE IMPORTANCE OF CULTURAL FACTORS UPON POSTPARTUM DEPRESSION
Abstract :
One of the important factors is in the social environment within the cultural structure of women. Culture, is an important concept for all the emotional experiences which individual s cognitive structure, beliefs and practices, and behavior affects the emotional response. As cultural features will vary from society to society, among different groups in the same society is possible to see the different cultural practices. The woman after the birth experience is shaped by the social and cultural environment. Cultural characteristics of women and family, women in the transition to parenthood compliance with the role of motherhood and that are closely related.how will undergo this process.In studies investigating the effects of cultural factors on depression in our country, is the type of women are married by arrangement, lack of direction they want the parents of the child s sex, social support is not sufficient, reported that risk factors in the formation of depression. In the studies, postpartum support system seen that postpartum depression is a protective factor which is more common in eastern cultures. Our purpose in this context, to determine the different rituals of culturally in postpartum period and explain cultural factors which play a role in postpartum depression.
