Abstract :
Objective: The study was performed to determine the marital adjustment of diabetic womenand to assess the effect on quality of life.Method: The sampling was composed of 175 married women with type 2 diabetes admitted toa training and research hospital in Konya between October 2012 and March 2013. To collect data, aquestionnaire, The Dyadic Adjustment Scale and the Scale of QoL Specific to Diabetes were used.The analysis of the data was performed with SPSS package software.Results: It was determined that mean age rate of the participants was 51.13±10.35 years,mean duration of marriage was 29.65 ±11.44 years, mean duration of diabetes was 9.33±6.33years, 72% were on the use of insulin, and 38.3% previously experienced hypoglicemia. It was alsodetected that the Dyadic Adjustment total scores of women treated with insulin were significantlyhigher (p 0.05), a negative correlation between the Scale of QoL Specific to Diabetes and bodymass index (r=-0.!04), and a positive correlation between The Dyadic Adjustment Scale and theScale of QoL Specific to Diabetes (r=0.159) were present. Additionally, a positive correlation wasfound between The Dyadic Adjustment Scale scores, and satisfaction with the treatment (r=0.272),psychological effect (r=0.157) and social-occupational anxiety (r=0.159).Conclusion: It was concluded that as marital adjustment of diabetic women increases, theirQoL also increases, and the more the satisfaction from the treatment by diabetic women andpositive psychological effect of the treatment increase, and social anxiety decreases, the more themarital adjustment increases.
