Abstract :
Objective: This study was designed to investigation of using wet wipes in the care ofhospitalized children mothers in children s hospitals.Methods: This study was designed as a descriptive study and the study data were collectedwith face to face interviews with 200 mothers whose children were hospitalized in a universityhospital, between 30 June 2012 and 15 January 2013. The data were collected with a questionnaireform specifically designed in compliance with the recent literature which was composed of 30questions. The study data were evaluated with SPSS 16.0. The percentage and frequencydistributions were calculated and all results were presented in tables. Permissions in writing wereobtained from the institutions where the study was conducted, The Board of Ethics at the School ofNursing, and Children s Hospital.Results: It was reported that 53% of the participants used wet wipes after urination while 58%used wet wipes following urination and defaecating during their stay in the hospital. The mostcommon uses of wet wipes were found to be changing diapers (45,5%), daily care (34,5%), andcleaning hands after meals (27%). The most common other body parts in using wet wipes werehands and feet (46%) and face (38%).Conclusion: The study results illustrated that mothers preferred wet wipes while chanqinqdiapers, daily care of their children and cleaninq different parts of their bodies durinq their stay inthe hospital. In this context, pediatric nurse who advocates and decision-makers between the rolesrelatinq to child care qiven property or child care accordinq to the selection of instruments and inthe use of wet wipes which areas is often employed, should be performed in which the chemicalsand they can create complications incidence for further multicenter, long-term studies
