Abstract :
Use of qualitative methods in especially health care and social care studies has becomeincreasingly widespread in recent years. The interest in qualitative approaches reflects newapproaches in the study of human behavior nowadays. Historically, nurses became socialized in away that they could see the world from a biomedical point of view. Nursing comprises of factorssuch as understanding, confidence, flexibility, honesty, tolerance and commitment. The expertsassert that these factors are feasible in qualitative research approach. The aim of this study is toincrease awareness of nurse researchers relating to the grounded theory approach - being one ofthe qualitative methods becoming more and more popular in nursing - and to inform them.Aspects such as similarity with the philosophy of nursing, historical process of the method andtheoretical structure, key components, methodological mistakes specific to the method in theliterature and skills necessary for the researchers to work on grounded theory are described withregard to the grounded theory methodology. In nursing context, describing the experiences and emotions of participants by researches that based on generating theory is deemed important for itcan direct nursing practices and improve the training and implementation programs and allprocesses.
