IOWA MODEL IN EVIDENCE-BASED PRACTICE
Abstract :
Evidence-based practice gained an increasing importance as an marked subject in education, management, policy and practice in the second half of the 20th century. EBP improves the quality of patient care and closes the gap between evidence and practice. Iowa model is also a system used in the practice and development of EBP. In the model, a framework is presented so as to provide that nurses should decide on daily practice affecting the outcomes of patient care, describing gradually how the changes in practice will be performed with the integration of evidence into practice. Inconclusion, in order to increase nursing care to the top level and improve the quality of care, a successful and cost-effective nursing care should be performed. In the increase of quality of care, the use of Iowa model of EBP may be suggested.
