Abstract :
Objective: The aim of this study is to determine the resilience level of junior nursing andmidwifery students according to their stress coping styles.Methods: This descriptive study was carried out with 117 junior nursing and midwifery students who agreed to participate on study and studied at Health Sciences Faculty of Giresun University. The data was collected by using Questionnaire Form determining socio-demographic characteristics of students, Ways of Coping Inventory and Resiliency Scale. The descriptive statistics such as number, percentage, arithmetic mean, standort deviation, minimum and maximum values, and Correlation Analysis were used in evaluation of data.Results: The average scores of students resilience are 191.66±29.38. Students have used more self-confident (2.17±0.42) and optimistic (2.02±0.47) approaches than submissive (0.98±0.54) and helplessness (1.40±0.57) approaches as a methods of coping with stress. According to correlation analysis, there are a positive, strong correlation (r=0.493, p =O.OOO) between resilience levels and self-confident approaches of students, a negative, strong correlation (r=-0.606, p=O.OOO) between resilience levels and helplessness approaches of students, a negative, weak correlation (r=-0.420, p=O.OOO) between resilience levels and submissive approaches of students and a positive, weak correlation (r=0.300, p=O.OO 1) between resilience levels and optimistic approaches of students. Conclusion: The resilience levels of students aren t very high. Resilience levels of students are affected by their coping styles. Although they use more problem-focused coping styles, it is proposed that empowerment programs are planned and implemented about less using emotion­ focused coping styles and more using soda/support approach
