Abstract :
Venous thromboembolism is a major clinical problem that endangers life. Even though thereare well-accepted methods which are routinely used worldwide to protect against deep venous thrombosis and pulmonary embolism, the protective measures that are available in clinical applications are sometimes overlooked. In this regard, improving the nursing care quality, knowing and practicing the current initiatives in order to ensure patient security are required. Nurses play an important role and take responsibilities in the prevention of deep vein thrombosis which usually has an asymptomatic course and its complications, in early diagnosis phase and in the reduction of treatment and care expenses. This article has been prepared as a guidance for the nurses and other staff about the clinical applications on the prevention of deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism.
