Abstract :
In this paper, we examined the performance level of primary schools in Turkey in the scope of educational internal efficiency. Analysis of internal efficiency was conducted for seven geographical regions and compared in terms of gender. Data regarding public primary schools in 2006 and 2007 was used to determine the internal efficiency level of primary schools. Assessment of internal efficiency was performed by using Reconstructed Cohort Method. By using this method, coefficients of internal efficiency were calculated. Findings of this research showed that Blacksea region had the highest internal efficiency coefficient in seven regions. In terms of gender, Blacksea region also had the highest internal efficiency coefficient. Eastern Anatolia and South-Eastern Anatolia regions had the fewer internal efficiency coefficient than the overall internal efficiency coefficient of Turkey. South-Eastern Anatolia region had the lowest internal efficiency coefficient for female students and Eastern Anatolia had the lowest internal efficiency coefficient for male student
