Abstract :
In the present article, the research related to the effects of age, emotional valence and testing time variables on autobiographical memory that is defined as a memory belonging to personal memories is reviewed. Age is an important variable in the autobiographical memory research. In the studies dealing with distribution of being recalled of memories in terms of age, reminiscence bump, childhood amnesia and recency effect are observed. Some contradictory results related to the effect of emotional valence of memories on to recollection of personal memories exist in the literature. While some research results which are reviewed in this article assert that negative emotional valence increases recollection, some claim positive emotional valence increase recollection. Moreover, some results suggesting that the last lived events are recollected more were obtained at the end of the evaluation related to testing time of memories,
