This study tries to bring a different perspective to the concept of “dominant tone” in some composite maqams of traditional Turkish music. In the study “Irak third = segah third” is taken as a starting point which is seen indirectly in some sources of Turkish music and directly seen in some works of today’s theorists. As a result it’s concluded that “Hicazi fourth” which is known to exist in the systematic school, also exists in maqam of Segah today.
