Abstract :
This research intends to identify the levels of instructional materials by social sciences teachers based on teachers’ opinions. The population of the research comprises 139 Social Studies teachers from public and private schools in Malatya city center in spring term of 2009-2010. The sample of the research is composed of 134 social studies teachers of whom 124 work in public schools and 10 work in state private schools.The data of the research was collected by administering a questionnaire form developed and controlled for reliability by the researcher. In the analysis of the data SPSS 17.0 was used. Using this program, the data were analyzed in terms of percentage (%), frequency (f), mean (x), standard deviation, t-test and ANOVA. As a result of the analysis of the data obtained, no significant difference was found between their use of instructional materials according as their gender. However, a significant difference was found between their use of instructional materials according as their ages, level of education, professional seniority, and the schools they work in.
