Zirconia Ceramics and Their Use In Dental Implantology
Abstract :
Titanium as a biomaterials of use, has been and still largely employed in dental implantology. However, its releasing corrosion products to the oral environment and causing individual hypersensitivity reactions are still controversial. A huge amount of researches involving biocompatibility, several surface treatments, bacterial adhesion or infectious diseases in implantology with titanium has also been engaged in the last 20 years. Recent years, using zirconia (Y-TZP) as an implant material either abutment or using anb alternative use with titanium (hybrid system, titanium screw and zirconia collar) attracts attention in dental implantology. Several investigations about theb material properties of zirconia, different types ofb zirconia ceramics in dental practice andb biocompatibility of zirconia ceramics were evaluatedb in this review.
