A pseudotrisomy 13 case diagnosed by autopsy
Abstract :
Trisomy 13 (Patau Syndrome) which is seen in one of 10000 delivery is one of the most frequent causes. We aimed to present a case which was diagnosed Trisomy 13 by autopsy after the delivery. 36 year-old, gravida 7, parity 6, live 5 patient had normal spontan vaginal delivery in our clinic. The diagnosis was made according to the macroscopic findings and autopsy of the stillbirth newborn. The disease occurs because of the nondisjunction of the 13. chromosome and especially facial anomalies heart, kidney and stomach anomalies are seen in influenced babies. Autosomal cytogenetic anomalies and Trisomy 13 are seen more prevalent in advanced maternal age (especially above 35 ages). The pregnants with advanced ages must be followed in tertiary centers which contain perinatology clinic and genetic counseling were given to these families if necessary. We wanted to present this case with Patau Syndrome because of rarely seen and become the first experience in our clinic.
