Abstract
We aimed to discuss the results of titanium elastic nail fixation in 18 patients aged below ten years old with fractures of forearm. After closed reduction, percutan titanium elastic nail fixation was applied with the aid of fluoroscopy to all patients in 24 hours. After three weeks of immobilization with splint, the movement was started. There was no restriction in any patient about flexion or extension. Mean union time was 11.7 (9-14) weeks. There was no patient with non union. There were malrotation in one patient and superficial infection in three patients at the end of 12 weeks. In the surgical treatment of children aged ten years and under, with double fractures of the forearm, we recommend the use of titanium elastic nail for good recovery results and a minimum of complications.
