  • Abstract
Night sweat is a frequent symptom which can point out very different and important diseases in the primary care. However there is not enough data about its epidemiologic frequency and the use in semiological diagnoses of the other diseases. Night sweats must be differentiated from primary (idiopathic) hyperhidrosis and ovarian follicular failure. Different types of cancers, infectious diseases, drugs, sleep disturbances and other diseases may cause night sweats. In the approach to night sweats patient history provides the most important data. Physical examination and laboratory findings support the diagnosis. In this review we aim to guide primary care health providers who may encounter with night sweat.
