  • Abstract
Peroneal nerve palsy is a rare potentially devastating complication of total knee arthroplasty, with an incidence ranging from 0.3% to 1.3%. Separated from the sciatic nerve in the popliteal fossa, the peroneal nerve crosses the gastrocnemius muscle lateral head in the outer part of the popliteal fossa. Below the knee, it has a very superficial course at the level of the fibular head and neck. This region is protected only by skin and fascia. It passes through a fibrous arc created by the peroneus longus muscle and intermuscular septum in this area. The peroneal nerve is usually injured in this area. We report a case of peroneal nerve palsy, after primary total knee arthroplasty.
