Abstract :
There are eight cities in Aegean Region located in the western part of Turkey; İzmir, Manisa, Denizli, Muğla, Aydın, Afyon, Uşak, Kütahya. In all of the eight cities, hand weaving has been going on including carpet-kilim and flat weaving layers (ground covers). In the mentioned cities, production of hand weaving in the area of clothing and home textile is actively continuing in the districts Buldan and Babadağ of Denizli, Tire and Ödemiş of İzmir, Yeşilyurt and Fethiye of Muğla. Buldan, Kızılcabölük and Babadağ in Denizli, Tire and Ödemiş in İzmir are the centers where the hand weavings are produced intensively and become an industry. Hand weavings are produced as less proportion in Yeşilyurt and Fethiye-Üzümlü in Muğla. Weaving has been going on as an industry branch in the form of factory production in Aydın and Uşak while hand weaving is in very little proportion as mainly cloth weaving in Aydın, Uşak, Afyon and Kütahya.
