Abstract :
In the violin teaching, there are some techniques or skills for the students to be attained during their educational period and such are detache, legato, staccato, martele, spiccato ricochet at right hand; and position changing, intonation, double stop playing, flajole, glissando and vibrato at the left hand. Without all these skills attained by the students, violin teaching is out of question. One of the most important attainments of the violin playing skills is one of the basic functions of the left hand, vibrato. Vibrato is a teachable skill. Yet, at the result of source-scanning, it has been understood that the studies in our country concerning with vibrato is limited and vibrato-teaching of violin students is not enough. Even today, in view of vibrato-teaching , both domestic and foreign sources are very limited, and besides, in most of available sources, the subjects in the curriculum generally consist of scale studies, position changing and bow techniques, but vibrato is not mentioned about much enough. Due to the fact that the sources are limited, either violin teachers teach this skill to the students with their own methods or the students themselves try to develop it with trial and error. In addition to these, it has been seen that ,as viewed to the curriculum, violin teaching was mentioned about only in the year 1987 and the later curriculums did not contain it very much. For these reasons, in this study, a study method has been obtained, making exercises for the development of vibrato skill and a study method for vibrato has been aimed to be introduced to the literatüre because it has been thought that these exercises will be able to be developed more.
