Abstract :
Today technological improvements busy working hours take the people away from natural environment and confined him to the dull offices. When a person is in a building, his only relation with the natural environment is the windows of the building. So the Windows are a part of the living place of the people in addition to their functionality. It is the beginning and the simplest state of passive recreation and in this respect it should be analyzed accurately. Especially those who work ora reeducated in a state-owned building are affected from the physical conditions of the these places. The Windows are among the most important factors that improve the dynamism of the place. Designers should take this into consideration and they should effectively use the factors such as window orientation, wideness and landscape it gives. The relationship between the windows and the outer place is emphasized in this study. Windows of the historical buildings and the perception of the outer place through the windows and applied examples are observed. Aesthetic importance and functionality of the windows in daily life discussed.
