Abstract :
Defining the preservation of past works of cultural value quality, “preservation” and “civilization” are two integrated concepts. The reason is that one of the most significant indicators of civilization is the preservation of concrete elements with historical and cultural value. The concrete historical and cultural element being referred here involves not only a singular age but also everything including a pen of a statesman who had lived thirty years before a vase dating from Neolithic age. Museums are the places where all these important works are kept, archived and exhibited for public visits. They are the places that both provide information about past experiences and enlighten the future. Many a private and state rectors are influential on the establishment of these organizations. One of the widespread types of museums in recent years is “University Museum” founded by universities. Considering that universities are organizations not only providing training and education but also contributing to the cultural development of the society, their founding museum has become a necessity. Malatya İnönü University enjoys the priveledge of being one of the few universities having two museums. One of these two museums within the university is “Private İsmet İnönü Museum” founded for İsmet İnönü, the 2nd president of Turkish Republic and “Private Turgut ÖZAL Museum” founded for Turgut ÖZAL, the 8th president of Turkish Republic.
