Abstract :
If we start Turkish Theatre with text in 1850, it is possible to note that our theatre which has a history of over 150 years has developed and matured through competitions in this dramatic genre. The importance and value of nearly 10 years of ongoing playwriting contest held in the early years of the Republic period in this context is important. Whit the instrumentalization of the theater, these competitions, intended to inform the public about Republican ideology, made significant contributions to Turkish Theatre althougt theatricality of the plays may be questioned.
