Abstract :

Wedding ceremonies which constitute an important day reflecting our cultural values and bring together many elements of the folk culture together are one of the main social events of a person’s life having a milestone quality. When the Turkish clothing culture is examined, it is become known that great efforts are made to make the bride who is preparing for her wedding day beautiful and her clothes are enriched with various ornaments and accessories. In Uşak province, which attracts attention with its richness in clothing, wedding ceremonies are identified with bridal wear varying in every county and every town. Bridal wear which reflects a different cultural value in its each facet differs visually by the details on head ornaments and accessories. In this study, the aim is to record with a specific systematic required by this field and document the bridal wear of Uşak Province Ulubey County Omurca Region which we think as ranking among the material elements of Turkish folk culture and pass it onto next generations without losing its core values. The bridal wear samples reached by the researches after a field study were examined in terms of style, form, material, tailoring, usage and ornament peculiarities and were attempted to be interpreted in line with the information received from living sources. The study carries significance due to its contribution to the protection and documentation of material cultural heritage.
