Abstract :

The aim is to update the annual curriculum of the Basic Design course in the first grade curriculum of the graphic design department and to harmonize the changing circumstances with the needs of the change. Particularly, the content of applied courses should be updated urgently because of the complete change of the student professions in the departments that are transitioning from the talent examination to the central placement process (graphic design, communication design, interior architecture, industrial product design). For this purpose, the achievements to be achieved at the end of the basic design course are listed and adapted to the weekly course schedules and applied to the students of two different universities in the 2016-2017 academic year. The process was analyzed by examining the drawings during and after the application process. The weekly programs are kept flexible by making changes in case of need. At the end of the year, the curriculum has been finalized. In the curriculum it has been understood that a long-term training is needed to acquire characteristic line capability. For this purpose, only the first four weeks are devoted to drawing methods. 60% of the curriculum is supported by drawing-oriented content. In addition, information on color information and painting techniques is preserved in the curriculum. In the last weeks of the curriculum, especially original design promoting practices have been added. At this point, the individual has the ability to translate all the education he has received. Because it is the fundamental authenticity of design. The curriculum also aims to learn the definition of design terms. The prepared curriculum should be rearranged every year according to the needs, the students in the institution should continue to be examined during the four years of education and also the external stakeholder relations should be strictly observed with the professions they will be in charge of.
