Title Of Article :
Determination of the Effect of Sowing Densities, Seed Drill Types and Roller Application on Yield and Some Yield Components of Barley Crop in Ankara Conditions
Abstract :
This study was conducted at the Experimental Field of the Field Crops Central Research Institute between the years 2003-2005 so as to determine the effect of various sowing densities achieved by means of different types of seed drills as well as roller application on yield and some yield components of barley crop in dryland conditions of Ankara. Plant material was TARM-92, which is a 2 row variety of barley. Three different types of drills (pneumatic, ordinary and roller wheel), two roller application (roller after sowing and without roller) and six sowing rates (175 seeds m^-2, 300 seeds m^-2, 425 seeds m^-2, 550 seeds m^-2, 675 seeds m^-2 and 800 seeds m^-2) were used. Both results of two years were separately evaluated in the study. According to the results of the experiment, seed drill types and roller application significantly affected number of spikes per m^2, spike length, number of kernels per spike, grain yield, harvest index and 1000 seed weight. While increasing sowing rates heading time decreased, 1000 seed weight were influenced negatively, number of spikes per m^2 and grain yield increased significantly. It was determined that sowing rate of 425-550 seeds m^-2 with ordinary or pynomathic drill together was the best practice for TARM-92 barley variety.
