Production of Frigo Plants and Their Yield Characteristics for Different Strawberry Cultivars in Van Ecological Conditions
Abstract :
The objective of this study was to obtain frigo plants in four strawberry cultivars (‘Aromas’, ‘Camarosa’, ‘Selva’, and ‘Sweet Charlie’) by keeping fresh runner plants at -2 C° for approximately eight months. The transplantation success and fruit yield of plants obtained from these frigo plants were also determined. At the end of the study, ‘Sweet Charlie’ had the highest (78.77 %) transplantation success. ‘Aromas’ had the highest (261.78g fruit per plant) fruit yield. Moreover, ‘Aromas’ had the highest fruit number (22.10 fruit per plant). There were no significant differences for fruit size and soluble solid content. By evaluation of the results, it was obvious that frigo plant production in Van ecological condition could be done successfully and fruit yield could be obtained satisfactorily from these frigo plants.
