Abstract :
This research has been carried out to determine the growth of lambs and body measurement traits of Hamdani Ewes under extensive conditions of in Çığlı village of Çukurca province in Hakkari. The adjusted values related to body measurements such as withers height (WH), body length (BL), chest width (CW), chest depth (CD), chest circumference (CC) and leg circumference (LC) for Hamdani ewes were found to be 68.47 ± 1.21, 66.20 ± 0.80, 22.34 ± 0.66, 32.25 ± 0.92, 99.62 ± 0.94 ve 65.51 ± 0.78 cm, respectively. The adjusted mean values of birth weight (BW), 3th and 6th month live weight of lambs were found to be 4.13 ± 0.21, 21.78 ± 1.30 and 35.09 ± 1.62 kg, respectively. In conclusion, growth performance of Hamdani lambs were similar to lambs of other domestic fat tail sheep. In terms of body measurements, dams are determined to have a different and high value from several domestic breeds.
