Abstract
Tarek is an endemic species peculiar to Lake Van basin. Twenty five percent of our total inland water fisheries is derived from this fish. Besides its economical and ecological importance; it also brings touristic value to Van and neighborhood districts with its reproduction migration which occurs every year intensively during May and June. In this study; past, present and also operations to be done and precautions to be taken for future of this important fish species are discussed besides its general features.
