Abstract
Like carpet weavings, flat weavings started with Turks in Central Asia and spread all over the world from here. Turks decorated their houses and tents with the products like rugs and felts. Also, they used them to be protected from hot, cold and dangerous animals.Flat weavings consist of the products which are weaved by carpet, light rug, zili and sumac techniques. The material of the flat weavings that are displayed in Nakhicevan State Carpet Museum is wool. And, the colours that are used are acquired from vegetable dyes.The products related to Azerbaijan flat weavings in Nakhicevan State Carpet Museum form the subject of this article. The photographs were taken from the museum in 27. 05. 2006.
