Abstract :
Erzincan Altıntepe Castle has been excavated for the first time by Prof.Tahsin Özgüç between 1959 and 1968. Architectural findings belonging to the Urartian Period and small findings which were taken out during those excavations provided important contributions to the Anatolian archaeology and they were considered as the unique samples of the culture they represented. The excavations of second term have been continued by a team under the chairmanship of Prof.Dr. Mehmet Karaosmanoğlu on behalf of Atatürk University and Ministry of Culture and Tourism since 2003. Destructions and dating problems in the castle which are unprotected after the first excavations draw the attention to scientific world. Ongoing excavations and restorations of the second term have provided significant results. This paper will provide information about the results of the excavations at Altıntepe between 2003 and 2015.
