Excavation Works of Myra-Andriake A Church in 2015
Abstract :
Myra, one of the significant cities of Lykia, is within the borders of Western Meditrranean Region, and Andriake, and is located on the northern and southern parts of a port which was formed at the point where Myros River flows into the sea. This study is intended to evaluate the findings obtained in the excavations in Andriake Church A.Andriake port is on a cancerous ground. Because the hill stretches from east to West, this port is a protected place. Settlement is on the cancerous ground towards South.Church A is located on slightly sloping area in southern settlement of Andriake and is the first structure of present day alley after the museum.Church A has basilica plan with three naves. In the eastern part of the church there iss a synthon in the apse. There are one narthex in the western part of the structure, which has a rectangular plan. Three gates provide the access to the church which has a measure of 16.61x 27.87 m. There is a narthex located in the western part of the naos with the measure of 7.40x3.50 m.
