An Empirical Study on Fiscal Decentralization and Local Economic Growth: The Case of Turkey

This paper provides evidence on the relationship between fiscal decentraliza-tion and local economic growth for Turkey from 1990 to 2006 by using panel data. In the given period, it has been found that the effect of fiscal decentralization on provincial economic growth is positive. Although for the high R-square and positive relation, the degree of the effect of fiscal decentralization to the economic growth at provincial level is limited for the given period.
