Abstract :
The aim of this study is to describe regional disparities in the contribution of human capital to the regional economy by comparing the years 2004 and 2011. In this context, data from Gross Value Added: Regional Results (2004-2011) researches were used to calculate Regional Gross Value Added. Data from Household Labor Force Survey (2004-2011), geographically covering all Turkey and selecting “address (residential)” as the sampling unit, were employed in order to calculate the number of regional employment and educational level of labor force and employment. The average educa-tion period of migrating people from the regions were calculated by using “TSI 2011 Address Based Population Registration System Results.” The results of this study show that despite their high-quality human capital, some regions of Turkey fail to generate enough added values. On the other hand, educated people migrate to other regions due to poor job opportunities not complying with their education in their own environment.
