FINANCIAL LIBERALIZATION AND ECONOMIC GROWTH: A LITERATURE REVIEW
Abstract :
In this study, the findings of the empirical and analytical studies that are made regarding the relationship between financial liberalization and economic growth will be summarized and in this context, validity and direction of this relationship will be evalutated. In this context, this study consists of three parts. In the first part, Mc Kinnon and Shaw Hypothesis that forms the background of financial liberalization will be described. In the second part, the channels of financial liberalization which affect economic growth will be explained. In the last part, whether the positive relationship between financial liberalization and economic growth that asserted by neoliberal economists is verified will be discussed with the help of several empirical and analytical studies about the subject.
