THE RELATION OF UCCE AND POLITICS IN THE PERIOD OF FUAT MİRAS’S PRESIDENTIAL TERM AT UCCE

The aim of the study is to review the relationships between the politics and TOBB during his period of TOBB Presidency (January 9th 1996 – June 16th 2001) and to compare TOBB presidency period of Fuat Miras with previous periods. It is seen that predominance of Yalim Erez continued during TOBB presidency period of Fuat Miras. In the process of February 28, Yalim Erez and Tansu Çiller broke up and this was reflected on the relationship between DYP (The True Path Party) and TOBB. Consequently, TOBB broke away with DYP. During the TOBB presidency period of Fuat Miras, it was seen that the TOBB increased its economical power and continued to be an important interest group when the political events during that period were reviewed. At the same time, as during the previous periods, many TOBB members entered the political world through central right-wing parties (ANAP and DYP) during the TOBB presidency period of Fuat Miras.
