THE EFFECT OF SEASONAL AFFECTIVE DISORDER ON THE EMPLOYEES IN ACCOMMODATION ESTABLISHMENTS
Abstract :
There is a common consensus that seasonal changes in mood, behavior and psychology vary in huge across the general population. Also seasonal changes’ effects are important for business administration esspecially in human resoueces management. But studying the effect of seasonality requires reliable and valid measures. Thats why in this study was used the Seasonal Pattern Assessment Questionnaire (SPAQ). The aim of the present study was to assess the effect of seasonal affective disorder (SAD) on turnover intention in hotel emplyees. We administrate the SPAQ and Turnover Intentıon Scale in five star hotels’ employees in Bodrum. The subjects (n 100), randomly selected from 8 five star hotels in Bodrum, were given the Seasonal Pattern Assessment Questionnaire and the turnover intention Scale over a period of one week in November. Results indicated seasonality has an big impact on employees. According to the study results seasonality effects %39 employees. Also seasonality has a big effect on woman than mens. Finally psychological state has a positive relation with turnover intention.
