Abstract :
Recently, revenue from tourism is the most important factor for decreasing negative effects of financial deficit. As all countries consider Exchange demand satisfaction from tourism sector, in Turkey, there is the same consideration on this sector. This study is analysed factors which affect the number of tourist from other countries with using gravity modelling approach. Those factors are determined such that: tourist’s distance between Turkey and chosen county, their level of income, their counties’ population potential, and some dummy variable. Those dummy variables are used for tourist’s cultural and ethnical relationships, tourist’s linguistic family, and their countries’ political and economic integrated groups. In this study, data is received from World Bank and Turkish Statistical Institute database and the practical part of the crosssectional regression models were used. This study examined with using different econometric models and getting coefficients from them whether or not 2008 Global Financial Crisis has a negative impact on tourism demand in Turkey. Generally, depends on study results distance between Turkey and chosen countries affects on tourism demand negatively on the other hand, income has positive effect on tourism demand. As a result of this research, it is confirmed that there is higher demand for tourism to Turkey from culturally related countries and countries which have membership as same union membership or collaborations withTurkey.
