Abstract :
This article tries to deal with the Quran perception in the modern period. The modern period whose roots extend up to the Reform and the Renaissance movements has serious effects. This period making the mind a center aims getting all kinds of secret matters out of human life. According to this perception, human being is determining and directing of physics and social sciences. This approach has brought secularism into the society. Relavant current of thoughts appeared in the West have begun affecting to the Islamic world since middle of the 19th century. The exploitation movements over the Islamic World contributed to this circumstance. In parallel with this period, different thought movements appeared in the Islamic world. One of them called as the modernists adhered to the tradition, other one took a submissive role, and another one taking into account the fact which was faced sought a way out centered the Quran. This approach seriously criticizing to the traditional perception headed towards the Quran as a primary source and strickly criticized the hadiths in terms of authenticity as well. In addition, those criticized sufi interpretation, gave the Quran priority as a guide to the right path, and gave importance to the moral matters. Those have given more importance on interpretation of the verses thought to be addressed about social, political and contemproray fields. In this frame, political, ideological and cultural backround became more evident. From viewpoint of these characterictics, classifying the Quran perception of modernist understanding has been tried to make more comprehensible.
