Abstract :
One of the topics that include an examination about the relation between reason and revelation is the problem of the rules of human acts before the message. This problem that is located in the triangle of Kalam, Usul al-Fiqh and Fiqh as an important subtitle of the problem of husn-qubh, is concerned with the role of human mind in the recognition of the rules of acts without The Ruler’s text or messengers. In Usul books, there are three main views on the assessment of human acts before the arrival of the shar‘: proscribed, permitted and un-assessable (in suspension). In this paper, it isn’t intended to count all the different opinions on the problem, but aimed to reveal the theoretical roots of this issue. For this purpose, two examples of scholars were selected. In the light of their (Basrî’s and Gazzâlî’s) views, the origins of this issue have been identified. Hence, this article is organized in three main sections followed by a brief conclusion. Primarily it has been presented how the problem was examined by the scholars, especially by Basri and Gazzali. After this general outline, the theoretical roots of the problem have been analyzed in the second part. In the last part, two similar problems have been gived. Eventually it is possible to say that the major conclusion derived from this study is that there are two important theoretical roots in the debate: “wisdom” and “reason/mind”.
