A COMPARISON OF THE UNIVERSITY MANAGEMENT MODELS IN TURKEY, EUROPEAN UNION AND USA
Abstract :
Universities have an important place in social change process with their scientific, technological and social researches and projects. The election of rectors, their duties and roles, the properties of executive boards, their powers, authority sharing and the issues of university control have an important place in the process of university management. This study’s aim is to examine the university management models of USA and European Union countries that have most of the prestigious universities in the world and compare them with the current university management model in Turkey. For this reason, the qualities of rectors, the election type of rectors, university executive boards, division of labor within university, and supervision types of universities are compared and a new university management model is presented.
